1. What is the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, EA3500?

The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router N750 Smooth Stream, EA3500 is a high-speed simultaneous dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) Wireless-N router which lets you access the Internet via a wireless connection or through one (1) of its four (4) Ethernet ports.  This router can be used to share network resources to various wired and wireless devices such as laptops, mobile devices and gaming consoles.  The router’s USB port connects to a USB storage device where you can add storage space to your network or access your portable files.  Various security features help protect your data and your privacy while you are online.  For more information on features and specifications, click here.

NOTE:  For more wireless bandwidth, the router can create two (2) simultaneous yet separate Wireless-N networks, one using the 5 GHz radio frequency band and another using the 2.4 GHz band.  For instructions, click here.

2. What default IP address, username and password are used to log in to the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, EA3500?

The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 and admin for the username and the password.

3. How can I reset the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, EA3500 to factory defaults?

There are two (2) ways to reset the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, EA3500 router to factory defaults.

You can reboot your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, EA3500 by powering OFF the router, then powering it back ON.  The switch can be found at the back of the router.  You can also click the Reboot button under the Basic Setup tab on the router's web-based setup page.

6. Can I use a USB 2.0 hard drive on the USB port?

Yes, you can use the USB 2.0 hard drives on the USB port.

1. What is the default wireless network name (SSID)?

The default wireless network name (SSID) of the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, EA3500 contains the brand name of the router and the last six (6) digits of the device’s serial number found on the bottom of the router.  It is recommended to update the SSID of your router for security purposes.

2. How many security modes does the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, EA3500 support?

8. Can I change my router’s username and password?

9. Will I be asked for a password when connecting to the Internet?

You will only be asked for a password when you are connected to the Guest Network when opening a browser.

The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, EA3500 does not support AP Isolation.

The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, EA3500 does not support transmission of log information to a log server.  It can only view and save traffic logs to your computer.

9.   What is MAC Address Clone?

Some Internet Service Providers (ISP), especially Cable companies, require you to register the MAC address of the modem, router, or Ethernet adapter of the computer in order to access the Internet.  If you do not wish to re-register the MAC address currently registered with your ISP, you may assign the MAC address you have currently registered with your ISP to the router using the MAC Address Clone feature.

If you want to clone the MAC address of the computer that you are using to configure the router, click the Clone My MAC Address button in the router's web-based setup page.  The router will then automatically detect your computer’s MAC address, so you do NOT have to call your ISP to change the registered MAC address to the router’s MAC address.  For instructions, click here.

NOTE:  It is recommended to use the computer registered with the ISP to enable the MAC Address Clone feature of the router.

10.  What is Port Forwarding?

Port Forwarding allows you to set up public services on your network, such as web servers, FTP servers, email servers, or other specialized Internet applications.

11.  Which dynamic routing protocol is supported on the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, EA3500?

The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router, EA3500 is compatible with RIP/RIPv2 dynamic routing protocol.

12.  What is Port Triggering?

Port Triggering forwards port based on the specified incoming port.  You can set up to 10 port triggering entries.  Check with your software application to find out what is necessary to enter in these fields.

14.  What is wireless MAC Filter used for?

NOTE:  You can add up to 32 MAC addresses in the Mac Address Filter list.

15.  What is the UPnP used for?

16.  Can I add or create a Game and an Application to the Priority list that are using the same port numbers?

No.  You can only add either but not both at the same time.

17. Can I schedule my router to reboot at a particular time?

2.  What should I do if I am unable to access my router settings remotely?

• Check that remote access is ON—You can go log in to your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account, select Connectivity Tool > click Administration and look under Remote Access.  If the Allow remote access to Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Tools and Router is ticked, Remote Access is ON or enabled.
