Installing your Linksys Wi-Fi Router is still possible even without using its Setup CD. In case your computer has no CD drive or you don’t have the Setup CD, you can do either of the following:
• Downloading and manually install the Cisco Connect software
• Install manually through the web-based setup page
NOTE: Older versions of Cisco Connect for Mac® computers have compatibility issues with the OS X® Lion and later OS release. Only Cisco Connect versions 1.4.11222 up to the latest are compatible with the OS X Lion operating system. For more information, click here.
Downloading and manually installing the Cisco Connect software
Step 1:
Go to the Linksys Support Site and download the appropriate Cisco Connect software for your router. For detailed instructions, click here.
Step 2:
Double-click the Cisco Connect
setup file that you have downloaded.
Step 3:
Read the License Terms for using this software and check the box beside it. Click Next.

Step 4:
Follow instructions 1 and 2 in the setup screen.

QUICK TIP: Ensure that you have no firewall enabled that may prevent the software from being detected. To know how to disable a firewall in your computer, click on the links below:

NOTE: If your Internet connection is through satellite, T1 or fiber optic that doesn’t have a modem, connect the existing Ethernet cable to the yellow Internet port of the router.
Step 5:
Cisco Connect will then start configuring your network. Do not close this window.

NOTE: The setup process will automatically generate a unique Router name (SSID) and Password for your network. You can change this information by following Step 6.
Step 6:
Create a name and password for your wireless network and enter it in the Router name (SSID) and Password fields respectively.

NOTE: The setup will automatically identify your Internet connection type. If the software detects that you are using a DSL connection, a screen will appear to let you type your user account details on the required fields. After doing so, click Next. Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) provides both the Account name and Password. If you do not have this, call your ISP.

The setup will finalize your router’s settings and attempt to establish the Internet connection. If the setup fails or the installation freezes in the middle of the process, you may need to do more troubleshooting steps to resolve it. For more information, click here.
Step 7:
You will then see a confirmation window showing that you are now connected to the Internet. Click OK to continue.

You will be redirected to the main Cisco Connect window. This window contains options that allow you to manage and personalize your network settings.
