Resetting your Linksys Intelligent Mesh system

Resetting your node or router reverts it to the state when you first took it out of the box. All the settings that you have customized such as the WiFi name, passwords, and security type will be erased and will need to be configured again.

This article will provide instructions on how to reset a node/router.

Before you begin:

  • Make sure that the node/router completely boots up showing a purple or blue light (if the node has been previously set up). Attempting to factory reset the node immediately after power cycling will not work so you must wait for a purple or blue light to show up before factory resetting the node.
  • Parent node - The Linksys router or node that is directly connected to your modem.
  • Child node - Additional Linksys router or node used to extend your network.

Directions

1. Make sure that all your nodes that need to be reset are powered ON. Keep in mind that if you reset the parent node, you will need to reset the child nodes as well.

2. Press and hold the reset button at the bottom or the back of the node for at least 20 seconds. The light on the node will turn red and fade in three pulses. Do not release the button until the light goes out and then turns bright red.

3. If you have reset the parent node and you have child nodes connected to the parent node, you must reset the child nodes as well since they are no longer part of the network.

4. If the reset is successful, the light should turn solid purple. To set up your nodes again, click on the links below for instructions:
