Configuring two Linksys RE7000s for Seamless Roaming

Scenario:

In this scenario, you have a router that does not support Seamless Roaming.  You can add Seamless Roaming in your network if you have two Linksys RE7000s.  You will need to configure one as an access point connected via ethernet to your router.

If your router is wireless, you may need to disable the WiFi on your wireless router to make sure your clients connect to the WiFi of the Linksys RE7000 to benefit from Seamless Roaming.

NOTE:  Seamless Roaming is a feature that is part of the firmware of the Linksys RE7000 Max-Stream™ AC1900+ Wi-Fi Range Extender
.

Step 1:
Configure your first Linksys RE7000 as an access point connected to your router via ethernet.  To learn how to set up the Linksys RE7000 to work as an access point, click here.  Then, use either WPA2 Personal or WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode as the Security Mode.

NOTE:  You can set the same WiFi names (SSIDs) to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

Step 2:
After the access point setup of your first Linksys RE7000, log in to the Linksys RE7000 and enable 802.11r on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Extended Wireless Settings.

NOTE:  The 802.11r is supported only on Linksys RE7000 v1 and not on Linksys RE7000 v2.

Then, click Save Settings
.

NOTE:  For instructions on how to access the Linksys RE7000’s web-based setup page, click here.

Step 4:
