Upgrading the Linksys Smart Gigabit Switch’s firmware

You can upgrade the Linksys Smart Switch’s firmware by HTTP/HTTPS mode or TFTP mode through its web-based setup page.
 
Before upgrading the firmware of your Linksys Smart Switch, you are required to download the firmware first from the Linksys Support Site. 
 
By HTTP/HTTPS:

 
Step 1:
Access the smart switch’s web-based setup page.  To know how, click here.
 
Step 2:
On the setup page, click the Maintenance tab then select File Management.  On the drop-down options, select Firmware & Boot Code.

 

Step 3:
On the Firmware & Boot Code screen, select HTTP/HTTPS.  Choose Upgrade for Command and Firmware for File Type.

 
Step 4:
Click Choose File and select the file that you saved from the support site.  Then, click Apply to start the upgrade process.
 
Step 5:
When the confirmation prompt appears, click OK to continue.
 
Step 6:
When the upgrading process is completed, click on File Management > Active Firmware Image to select the image to be activated after the system reboots.

Step 7:
Click Apply.

 
Step 8:
Select Reboot in the left navigation side, then click the Reboot button on the page.

 
              
By TFTP:

 
Step 1:
On the switch's web-based setup page, click the Maintenance tab.
 
Step 2:
Open Tftpd32 tool on your computer and set it.

Step 3:
On the web-based setup page, click File Management > Firmware & Boot Code.
 
Step 4:
On the Firmware & Boot Code screen, use the following:
  • File Transfer Protocol:  TFTP
  • Command:  Upgrade
  • File Type: Firmware
  • Source File:  linksys_smart (example)
  • TFTP Server:  By Address 
NOTE:  You can select IPv4 address, IPv6 address, or by name. (i.e IPv4 address is 192.168.1.118)
 
Step 5:
Click Apply. 

 

The firmware upgrade by TFTP mode will proceed.
 

Step 6:
When the upgrading process is completed, click on File Management > Active Firmware Image to select the image to be activated after the system reboots.

 

 
Step 7:
Select Reboot in the left navigation side, then click the Reboot button on the page.
 
                 
Step 8:
When the confirmation prompt appears, click OK to continue.
