Benefits of wired connection for work at home setup

Although a Wi-Fi connection gives mobility and flexibility, many are still not sure about its security and functionality.  Even with the increasing popularity of Wi-Fi, businesses still prefer wired connectivity.

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, many businesses now are switching to a work at home setup.  This article will state the benefits of using a wired connection for work at home.

Less interference

Wi-Fi connections are prone to irregularities due to interference with the signal.  This may result to slow network connection and poor signal strength.  Because wired networks are not visible to other wired networks, there may be little to no interference with the connection.

Faster network speed

Compared to Wi-Fi, wired networks are faster.  Because a separate cable is used to connect the devices to the network, there are no dead spots and no unnecessary traffic.

Security

The flexibility and mobility of using Wi-Fi also has a downside.  Since anyone within range can access it, that means it's possible for anyone to connect to the network.  Wired networks require physical connectivity to a router or gateway.   This nature makes it harder for hackers to gain unauthorized access to your network.

Reliability

A wired connection is not only faster, but it also delivers a reliable and consistent speed especially when downloading files or streaming videos.
