Printing and scanning wirelessly on your Brother® printer using your Android™ device

The Brother® iPrint&Scan application is a free application which allows you to print from and scan to Android™ devices.  Follow the steps below to learn how to print and scan with your Android™ device using the Brother® iPrint&Scan application.

 
Printing with your Android™ device
 
Before you begin printing using the Brother® iPrint&Scan application, ensure the following: 
• Your Brother® printer must be compatible with the Brother® iPrint&Scan application.  To know if your printer is compatible with this application, check the manufacturer website of your printer.

• Your printer must be powered ON and connected to the same network as your Android device.
    Step 1:
    Tap the iPrint&Scan application.
     
    Step 2:
    Select the file format of the file you want to print by tapping one of the options:

    • Photo Print – Allows you to select an image from your Android device’s image gallery.  Tap the Photo Print option, then select the image you want to print.

    • Document Print – Allows you to print a text document such as PDF, .txt files and Microsoft Word documents.  Tap this option to print a text file and select the file you want to print.

    • Web Page Print – Allows you to print a web page from the Internet.  Tap the Web Page Print option to print a web page.

    • Email Print – Allows you to print an email.  Tap this option to print an email and select an account containing the email you want to print. Select the email you want to print.

      NOTE:  If your email is not in the list of email accounts, you may need to associate your email account with your Android™ device.  Refer to your device’s documentations to learn how. 

      Step 3:
      Tap Print Preview.
       
      Step 4:
      Ensure that your Brother® printer is selected by checking the settings found at the bottom of the screen. 
       
      NOTE:  If your printer is already selected, skip Step 5.
       
      Step 5:
      If no device was selected, tap the Settings, then tap Printer and select the printer from the list. 
       
      NOTE:  If your printer is not on the list, ensure that the printer is powered ON and is connected to the same network.
       
      Step 6:
      Make the necessary adjustments to the print and paper settings by configuring the following:
      • Paper Size – Select from A4, Letter or Legal.
      • Layout – Select between 1 in 1, or 2 in 1.
      • Copies – Select how many copies of the document you want to print.  You can print up to five (5) copies of the document per print session. 
      Step 7:
      Tap the Back button.
       
      Step 8:
      aaaTap Print all to print the file. 
       
      NOTE:  If you only want to print one page of a file with multiple pages, select the page you want to print by tapping the arrow button, then tap the Print this button. 
       
      Your file should now be printed.
       
       
      Before you begin scanning using the Brother® iPrint&Scan application, ensure the following:
       
      • Your Brother® printer and scanner must be compatible with the Brother® iPrint&Scan application.  To know if your printer and scanner is compatible with this application, check the manufacturer website of your printer.

      • Your printer and scanner must be powered ON and connected to the same network as your Android device.
       
      Step 1:
      Load the file or photo you want to scan on the Brother® printer and scanner.
       
      Step 2:
      Tap the iPrint&Scan application on your Android™ device.
       
      Step 3:
      Tap Scan.
       
      Step 4:
      The Scan Settings will appear.  Ensure that your printer and scanners is selected.
       
      NOTE:  If your printer and scanner is already selected, skip Step 5 and Step 6.
       
      Step 5:
      If your printer and scanner is not selected, tap the Settings button then tap the Scanner option.
       
      Step 6:
      Select the device from the list.
       
      Step 7:
      Make the necessary adjustments to the scan settings by configuring the following settings:
      • Document Size – Select between A4, Letter, 10x15cm (4”x6”), 9x13cm (3.5”x5”), and 60x90mm (2.4”x3.5”).
      • Scan Type – Select between Color, Color (Fast), and Black & White.

      Step 8:
      Once you have made the necessary configurations on the scan settings, tap Scan.

      Your document or photo should now be scanned.  Once the scan process is done, the image will appear on the screen of your Android™ device.  Tap Save to save the scanned copy of your document or image to the Gallery of your Android™ device.

      NOTE:  If you only want to save a portion of the scanned image, you can crop the image by tapping the Crop button.  To select the area you want to crop, tap and drag the crop box to the area.  To change the size of the crop box, drag the edges of the box around the area. 
       
      Once you have selected the area you want to crop, tap Done.
       
      Discover other printing applications for your Android™ device
       
      The Brother® iPrint&Scan application makes printing from your Android™ device fast and easy.  However, if you do not have a Brother® printer, there are other printing applications you can use.  One such application is the HP® ePrint Home & Biz application for Android™.  This allows you to easily print to your HP® ePrint printers straight from your Android™ devices.
