Setting the Linksys WAP300N to Wireless Media Connector mode

The Linksys WAP300N N300 Dual-Band Wireless Access Point is a highly flexible device which can function in different modes.  Using the WAP300N in Wireless Media Connector mode quickly and easily adds Wi-Fi connectivity to any Ethernet-ready device like game consoles, media players, DVRs, Smart TVs or network access storage.
 

NOTE:  This article assumes that you already have an existing network and the WAP300N is already installed.
 

Step 1:
Access the Linksys WAP300N’s web-based setup page.  For instructions, click here.

NOTE:  If you are using a Mac® computer to access the access point's web-based setup page, click here.
 

Step 2:
Click Setup and then click Operation Mode.

 


Step 3:
Select Wireless Media Connector.

 


Step 4:
Click  and w
ait for the Operation Mode setup process to be completed.
 


When the process is completed, the setup page of the WAP300N as a Wireless Media Connector will be displayed.  You can now connect it to the wireless network in order to allow your Ethernet device to connect to it.  Follow the steps below to learn how:

NOTE:  It is recommended that you use the network site survey to connect the WAP300N in Wireless Media Connector mode to the wireless network.
 

Step 1:
Access the web-based setup page of your WAP300N.

 

Step 2:
Go to Wireless tab and then click Wireless Network Site Survey sub-tab.

 


Step 3:
When the list of available networks appears, select your Wireless Network Name.

 


Step 4:
Click .


Step 5:
Enter the wireless password in the Passphrase field then click Connect.

 


Once your WAP300N is successfully connected to the wireless network, you can now connect your Ethernet device to the WAP300N via its Ethernet port.
