Getting to know the Linksys LGS308MP and LGS308P

The Linksys LGS308MP 8-Port Smart Gigabit PoE+ Switch MP (Linksys LGS308MP) ​and Linksys LGS308P 8-Port Business Smart Gigabit PoE+ Switch (Linksys LGS308P) offer a quick and easy solution to extend your office network.  The smart switch features gigabit speed ports, a web-based setup page for easy configuration and management, and PoE+ support for networking devices to be located anywhere without the need for alternating current (AC) outlets.

Lights
  • PoE MAX - indicates the PoE power budget status of the switch
  • SYSTEM light - indicates the device’s status and activities
  • Port lights (RJ45) 
Left - Link/Activity status
  • OFF - No link detected
  • Solid - Link is detected/established
  • Blinking - Transmitting/receiving data
Right - indicates PoE status
  • OFF - No powered device (PD) detected
  • ON - Valid 802.3af/at PD is detected

Ports/Button
  • PoE+ ports (RJ45) - are auto-sensing ethernet ports that detect the speed of the device connected to it and adjust the port speed and duplex accordingly.
  • Reset button - the reset button is located on the device’s front panel next to the SYSTEM light.

PoE support 
  • Supports both IEEE 802.3af/802.3at (PoE+) - up to 30 watts per powered device (PD)
  • Power is provided over data pair (cables 1 and 2 + 3 and 6)
  • Legacy mode is not supported
  • Supports DC Disconnect
  • Supports the following port limit mode:
    • Class mode - limitation is based on PD classification
    • Port mode - limitation is based on user settings

PoE power budget
  • 130 W (Linksys LGS308MP), 72 W (Linksys ​ LGS308P)
  • If budget is exceeded, the power will be provided based on the priority defined on the port:
    • Critical
    • High
    • Low

The switch has one fan.
